Subterranean Termites
Subterranean Termites
Subterranean termites are a group of insects that cause tremendous damage to homes and businesses each year in the United States. These insects primarily live in the soil while building mud tubes into the structure. Subterranean termites are social insect and have a caste society. Workers remove the wood (cellulose material) and share it with the rest of the colony. Soldiers protect the colony from outside predators. Winged reproductives (alates) swarm from the colony, usually in the spring of the year, and create now colonies, thus continuing the life cycle.
